Custom Hardscaping in Richardson: Thompson Residence
The owner of this home in Richardson brought in Scapes Incorporated to address two issues. One was the need for an entirely new front landscape, and the second was for a functional new front walk which provided easy wheelchair access. Early on in this project, the client voiced a strong desire to avoid a ramp and to extend the landing by the front door.
The Thompsons were very pleased with the “extended step” solution provided by Scapes. By increasing the depth of the treads and decreasing the riser height, the new entry steps are more easily accessible by the owner. The extension of the landing allowed for the creation of a true front port, which is bordered by a stone seat wall.
The new walk improvements were finished in a stained and textured concrete that blends nicely with the brick on the house. Planting improvements are simple yet very effective in softening the front of the house and giving the property much needed curb appeal. The two Crape Myrtles and two Oak Leaf Hollies anchor the plantings, while the ground plane is spruced up with Knockout Roses, Dwarf Fringe Flowers and other plantings. Stone edging provides ease of maintenance between the lawn and the landscape beds.
Scapes Incorporated exceeded our expectations with their solutions to our needs. We now have much more accessibility and a very inviting front entry.
